The solar installation went very smoothly once the team were on site. Due to panel availability we were offered an equivalent panel at the last minute which allowed the install to proceed without delays. The PVC bird protection product supplied does not follow the contours of the tiles in the way that mesh would. Hopefully we will not have bird getting through the sizeable gap that remains on each tile.

Smart Group installed our PVs and battery very efficiently. Both the roofers and the electricians were extremely hardworking and friendly, and did a great job. The Team in the office were always happy to help. Being older people, we could have done with a little more technical explanation occasionally, but could understand the pressure of work which the Team was under. The system works really well and, even though installed well into autumn, is already producing significant results.

The star rating above is based on my following comments. The premises in and on which this installation was carried out consists of a bungalow built about 120 years ago and located in a conservation area. Initially it appeared the designers did not fully grasp that the foregoing would impose spatial and structural restrictions on the installation particularly concerning the electrical energy storage system (ESS). On the day work commenced on site it was discovered that the ESS components (Inverter and Batteries) were of unsuitable size and weight distribution. Though the PV panel installation was completed in a matter of hours there was a delay (20 working days) in overall contract completion due to the need to source, deliver and install alternative ESS plant components. It took a further 20 working days to deliver the Customer Hand Over Pack.

From start to finish the SMART group were very professional. Work was carried out in one day, panels up in a few hours. Before I decided on Smart group I had several quotes from other companies which varied dramatically in size and cost. They all sent salespeople round and it reminded me of the bad old days of double glazing salespeople.The hard sell with incentives for you to sign up quickly, wanted my wife present for the pitch as well, etc etc. What impressed me about the Smart group was there were no sales people and all the pre installation was done over the phone, no high pressure sales chat. They are a Which trusted trader and five stars on trustpilot. It is such a lot of money to spend you want to have a company that you can trust is professional and will still be here in 5, 10 years time. I have confidence after dealing with the Smart group that they will be here to support and sort out any future problems.

Smart group were excellent. Very knowledgeable and more than willing to answer all questions. They were always prompt in responding and keeping us updated regularly. They were also super helpful in providing support with the EST application. Install was quick and professional, completed in one day which was great! The system was also up and working that day. The panels look great on the roof and the bird proofing also looks really good - much better than standard mesh. There has been a small issue with the battery reading of export which is to do with the manufacturer and for which smart group have been prompt in identifying the fault and working to get this resolved. I would have no hesitation recommending smart group for solar pv and battery installation.

Very happy with the service from Smart Group from start to finish. They responded very well to emails and are extremely knowledgeable about the EST funding process which really helps. Their prices are competitive and the installation itself was carried out in one day. The installation team were polite and friendly and efficient. We were very impressed in particular with the electrician who was very experienced and worked extremely hard all day, and managed to attach the battery to the wall, saving us much needed cupboard space. The solar installation team were also great and very swift! I would highly recommend this company for solar and battery storage installation. I found Smart Group via a Google search and were one of a number of companies from whom I requested a quote. We chose to go with Smart Group due to the cost and previous reviews of the company. The installation took far longer than we anticipated due to supply issues which I believe were more to do with the global supply chain than Smart Group although we did have to go through a long process of re-considering panel and battery types which was frustrating. The actual install was good and the panels are fitted well to the roof. All installation work was very neat and tidy with good explanations from the electrician on how the system works and from the Smart Group team as support. I would definitely consider using Smart Group again and feel the experience would have been smoother had there not been ongoing supply chain issues.

Smart group were one of the most professional to support from initial quotation, knowledge and options. Process takes time, with EST and documentation back and forward. However install when going ahead was done in one day, super neat and tidy and the team that came to my house were excellent from start to finish. Some delays in communication but we are talking days/holidays, this has not had any significant impact in timeframes. Clare and Lorna who are no longer there always updated with clarity in their response.

Smart Group fitted a 7.3 kw solar array along with a 15 kw battery system to my house. The overall experience with dealing with them has been good. The system was fitted a few days ago and is performing excellent, I have been using 2kw from the grid opposed to 40kw. The communication has been great from the company and the install took 1 day. Every house should have solar however the issue seems to be the supply of the materials and cost to make it happen.

From start to finish this took about 7 months, but mostly because of EST. Had to chase them a lot to find out where my loan was (They were very busy). There was also a delay in emails with Smart Group, some going into the spam folder, so it was quicker phoning them. As soon as I received the money, Smart Group were able to install my panels the following week. Reading the extensive documentation received from SG, I struggled to get my head around some of it, so I called them and they were able to fill in some of the blanks. The installation itself went relatively smoothly, the roofers installed it on a rainy morning (the front panels weren't vertically centred (off by a tile) and 1 of the rear panels is a bit squint and not clipped in fully - hoping to get that fixed but no reply yet). The electrician was excellent and very knowledgeable. He was there most of the day. Everything was installed neatly and he tidied up after himself. So 4/5, mostly good, some niggles. Still recommended..

The initial enquiry and subsequent quotation were provided promptly, whilst we awaited funds from EST. Once we received the funds there were some delays due to supply issues, understandable in the current climate due to shortages and demands for solar, and despite a couple of false starts and poor communication immediately prior to the scheduled install, our system was installed last week, with upgraded 425W panels instead of the quoted 415W. The panel installers turned up early and had completed the panel install before lunchtime. The electrician did an extremely neat job, all the cabling was very neat and tidy, with most of the cabling hidden away from view. The communication issues we experienced pre-install appear to have been fixed, and response times to queries are much improved. Overall fairly happy with the service from SMART Group.

I have been very impressed overall with Smart Group Scotland, from quotation to installation. I initially obtained 3 quotes for a Solar PV + Battery system, and not only was this the cheapest quote, it was also the most detailed, highest spec, and filled me with the most confidence (accreditation, guarantees, etc.). I had some delays with the EST as I picked the energy price hikes to undergo this journey, but the communication with Smart Group was excellent, and when I did eventually get the loan through, the installation followed swiftly. The roof installation team and electrician for the inverter/battery were all great. I get the impression Smart is a relatively small company doing their best at a time when supply and demand is tumultuous.

We went with Smart group based on a recommendation from a friend. We're really glad we did. They weren't the cheapest firm that quoted us, but given such a large scale project was at hand, reputation was far more important. From the moment we were in contact, they were excellent. Really good advice was given to us regarding the choice of products, installation, HES application, timelines. Their installation team were also brilliant. I couldn't believe how quickly everything was done, and to an extremely high standard. We're still working out a couple of kinds with the system but they have recommended good contacts with the product retailers who have been really helpful. I obtained several quotes and Smart Group came in as the best value for money for the equipment being supplied. The action plan document supplied initially with the quotation had a significant amount of information which allowed me to make an informed decision. The electrician who attended on the day was knowledgeable & helpful, the roofers were quick to install the panels and the office staff were prompt in replying to any correspondence. I'm obviously not able to comment on the quality/reliability of the equipment as it has been in place for less than a fortnight, however so far the 'AlphaESS' app is working well and allows me to check the total power being produced/consumed. Awaiting login details for the app to monitor individual solar panels.

From start to finish the whole process took around 8 months. Everything was a chase. After a survey I was told I needed scaffolding on one side of the house. I arranged this myself for much less than the quoted cost. On install day, everything was professionally done, no complaints there. I also chose to have an Eddi device installed, this was left not connected to the Wi-Fi. I had to contact the supplier for instructions.

Overall, I would recommend. A good honest company who want to provide a good service and who don’t over-promise, unlike some others in the market. There were a few frustrations along the way - long delays due to supply chain issues and I think because they were so busy due to the surge in demand. Also some details were missed initially but resolved in the end. An on-site survey at an earlier stage would have been helpful (or more care in looking at the photos and details I sent them by email following the initial remote survey). The installation team of roofers and electricians were excellent, communicated well and did a really neat job. Still waiting for the final apps and paperwork I need to apply for the smart export guarantee.

There were a few delays caused by issues with the availability of the specific batteries that I wanted. I had to contact them to get updates where it would have been nice for them to have contacted me instead. When I did contact them they were very helpful. Due to these delays I actually got higher rated panels at no additional cost. On installation day the panels went up but the electrician tested positive for covid but they managed to get someone to complete the electrical part of the install about a week later. The electrician didn't do a site visit so there was a bit of discussion on the placement of the inverters, batteries and the routing of cables which extended the installation a bit but they were very helpful and the install is working well. There was 1 issue with the electricals which caused the export to not register but that was a simple fix

A couple of minor issues arose but these are being dealt with and the installation date was put back as there was a shortage of materials due to external factors. They also cancelled my installation the day before without even informing me and by pure chance I phoned them to check and they advised it was cancelled. However they did schedule installation a couple of days later. The trades men that came out to do job were great and Lorna in the office is very helpful.

We had a 4.9kWp solar system, with 10kWh battery storage installed. The initial recommendations were very thorough and enough information was given for us to apply for planning permission (we are in a conservation area). Although the documents given were detailed, one thing that I didn't realise until after the install is that the battery can't charge at the power that the panels produce when it is sunny. It would have been good if this was explicitly explained at the design process with options given as we may well have decided to pay more for a battery that could cope with a higher power. A lot of help was given with regards to applying for the HES loan. Replies to emails were sometimes slow and I needed to send follow-ups sometimes in order to get a reply. We had some delays due to problems sourcing the batteries, but I think that is a national issue. On the install day a ridge tile was dislodged. After some discussion they have agreed to fix it, but with no set date.

We started looking for a solar panel installer in late '21. Of the dozens of companies we contacted, Solar Group were the only one who actually engaged with us, and were very helpful and professional in working with us to get to a quote for what we wanted. There was none of the slimey sales patter, which was appreciated! They were very patient in answering all my questions and we eventually signed up. We then found out about the supply chain issues, which weren't surprising given the state of the volatility of the global electronics supply chain and the spike in demand for affordable energy. I was a tiny bit miffed that the issues weren't mentioned at all until after we had signed the contract. We had to wait a while for install, and in the interim I had to chase a couple of times for emails to be answered. Install finally happened a week or so ago, and went very well. The guys were friendly and efficient, and all cables have been left neatly. Overall I'd happily recommend Smart Group.

We are very pleased with our installation. We started our search for an installer over a year ago, of the 5 local to us only one responded with a quote. We expanded our search, found Smart Group who were very prompt and helpful in their response. The installation has then been plagued with supply chain issues, bad weather delaying solar install, technology faults. We agreed the contract at the end of August and have only now got the battery installed and up and running. None of these issues have been within Smart Group's control, just the huge demand for solar. The installation teams have been excellent, very tidy and the electrician has done a great job making sure cabling is well hidden. Communication could have been better, we've had to chase for updates a few times.

We contatced Smartgroup for help navigating the complex world of renewable energy install - Solar PVC, Battery Storage & Financing. From start to finish, I have nothing but praise for Smartgroup. From their customer services patiently fielding daft questions, from someone new to the technology, to the install teams for whom nothing seemed to big or small an issue to handle. Work was completed quickly, efficiently & the guys left the house as clean as when they came....although I would have given 10 stars if they'd found a way to leave it cleaner than they found it, but cant have everything lol. If you are looking into having renewable tech installed, I would recommend Smartgroup in a heartbeat (have already done so as a matter of fact) you wont go wrong.

Smart Group have been an impressive company to deal with. I'd been trying to find a Solar Installer for ages. When I approached Smart Group they were responsive and helpful, remotely surveying the roof and then sending through a very thorough, detailed quote which highlighted all the details and benefits of the system I wanted. Clare and Lorna have been very, very helpful, keeping me right every step of the way, from understanding the importance of the DNO, to walking through the right steps for applying for the EST lending and then following up to make sure I had done everything I needed to do. They were very patient with all my questions. The installation team were on time and 16 410kw panels were on the roof and operational by lunchtime. The Eddi is now diverting solar PV to my immersion heater and I have a 15kw battery system due in the New Year. Clare and Lorna continue to advice on next steps for my personal journey to Net Zero. A Hybrid Heatpump is probably next.

Overall I am happy with the service I received from Smart Group (I had solar panels and a battery installed). Lorna and Clare were both very supportive during the process, from quote to installation. Their advice about what I needed was always relevant without wanting to upsell. Due to the component shortages, the whole system was changed bit by bit, but this was always well communicated. There was a slight drop of communication halfway through where I felt abandoned, but it was quickly rectified after I pointed it out. I have to admit that sometimes I am not the easiest customer - I have lots of questions and I like to be informed regularly. Clare and Lorna were always very helpful and supportive to answer all my questions. I had my reservations about installation too; I was worried about where and how the gear will be positioned, where the cables will run etc. but the installation team were absolutely professional and tidy. I would definitely recommend Smart Group.

The installation was around a month and a half behind schedule but the team at Smart Group Scotland kept us informed and up to date with supply issues they were experiencing.They were also good at talking us through the process and applying for an Energy Savings Trust loan. The company also took payment in three instalments as the loan was paid to us in instalments which was handy too.Finally, we were given a week's notice of when the installation was ready to proceed, which was fine, and the installation team were quick, tidy and efficient, installing 13 solar panels and all the electrics that went with it in around 3 hours. It was very impressive and I would recommend this company to friends and family.

Global supply issues meant the installation was delayed and I'm still waiting on the battery but very happy with my panels so far. Workmanship was quick and very neat and tidy. I had a reasonably difficult run to my MCU and the team managed to run all cables without me having to re-plaster anything which was a miracle! Communication from Smart Group was good overall and they kept offering alternatives when items were out of stock and unavailable, I would definitely recommend.

Great service in challenging times. Sourcing on the components of the setup has been really challenging so this has taken longer than i would have liked to get installed. But Smart Group kept me informed all the way through, suggesting alternatives and making sure I was happy. The day of the installation ran really smoothly, and the team were extremely efficient and tidy. Pleased with our Solar PV installation. Still waiting for our battery to be installed due to global supply issues but Smart Group were good enough to install the Solar PV in the meantime. The panels were installed in a couple of hours and the cabling is out of sight, so very happy with the installation. Batteries were delayed due to World supply problems but were installed as soon as available. BOTH apps work well and 8 months in panels and batteries are exceeding my expectations. Overall I am well satisfied.

She has been extremely helpful throughout the process and she is very knowledgeable on solar panels and the process of obtaining EST loan. We had a large installation of solar panels, battery storage and EV charger fitted all at the same time. We are very happy with the installation and service received. The fitting team are amazing and Clare, Lisa and Lorna in the office have been very supportive and helpful with the whole process (also guiding us through the HSE loan process). Their knowledge of the products/system we had fitted is great. We have some minor teething problems which The Smart Group are in the process of resolving for us without hesitation. After our system was fitted, we learnt more about what it was capable of and requested more support from Smart Group with allowing the system to do what we wanted it to. We are in the process of finalising this now...

Clare, Lisa and the install team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Installed within half a day and it looks great - their install team even helped with the awkward wiring from our box into the attic. Very knowledgeable of the EST loan system and were extremely helpful in helping us to make the best of our roof space, fully understand the options available to us and plan our install. They could work on communicating changes and specific details (e.g. time of day for install), but given that the entire UK wants solar panels now with the price of electricity I'm happy to put that down to them being extremely busy at the moment.

Initial engagement showed very knowledgeable and patient staff that provided more than sufficient documentation and support to all the questions we had. Subsequently provided support and guidance on securing EST funding. Installers arrived at provided installation date, executed the work better than expected, they were very patient in answering all of our questions and worked together with us in ensuring the system is installed to optimal specs . The solar system is up and running and i am very happy with the performance so far. Overall a really good experience even from the quotation stage something I can not say from other much bigger companies that failed short both in initial engagement, detail provided as well as pricing. I look forward to hopefully doing more business with them in the future.

Overall a good experience from my initial enquiry to the actual installation of the solar panels. From the start the communications were good and the team assiting me in this process seemed both knowledgeable and friendly. We had been a bit hesitant in taking this step but the information supplied made it clear that we were doing the right thing in installing solar panels. On the day of the installation we were absolutely amazed at the speed of the fit . We had expected the fitters and the electrician to be here a large part of the day but they arrived at 8am and were finished by 10.30am and there was no mess at all. These guys definitely know what they are doing. We just need more sun now !

The team that arrived to install the solar PV and battery systems did a great job. I thought the job was going to be more difficult than I thought it would be due to the placement of our electrics. My mind was put at ease after the pre install visit at which it was stated that it wouldn't be an issue. They arrived on time and completed the work to a high standard and in good time. The battery installation was also completed to a high standard and the operation of the system was explained very clearly. Had a slight issue with the battery due to a software update needing to be applied, not the fault of the installer and was sorted out quickly. . The system has been operating beyond expectations since the installation. The office team have been very communicative and supportive throughout the quotation, preparation and installation. I would highly recommend this company.

I found the team at Smart Group ( and in particular Clare ) to be very helpful and supportive through the planning process for the installation and the loan application. We then had a long wait for the electricity company to upgrade the supply but during this time Clare kept in regular touch with updates. Install all went according to plan. There were a couple of small post install problems but these were rectified very quickly. Overall a good experience and I would hope to use them on future installations.

Right from our first enquiry we found the Smart team really helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. They guided us through the process for deciding on our best option, budgeting, application for EST loan and cashback and all the associated paperwork. All visits to our home for survey and installation were friendly and polite and the actual installation was quicker than we expected despite one of the roofers going off sick. The only issue was a couple of damaged slates. The Solar PV system and storage battery is now running well and it's great to see how much it is generating despite the West of Scotland weather. I think that their willingness to respond quickly to our various questions and generally helpful attitude make a difference and I'd highly recommend them to anyone needing advice on renewables

Overall a good experience. No pressure sales, just lots of information. Communications were good and responses are generally quick and informative. The physical installation happened much sooner than I expected, a very minor health and safety delay because of frost on the roof, apart from that we hardly knew it was happening. Work in the house was neat and I was kept informed about placement of equipment and routing of cables. Tiny negative, a bit of a bug bear of mine, please take packaging, etc away with you don’t put it In my bin or leave in the loft

For it being a pretty invasive process the guys had house back together for us by the evenings. Advised us not to keep pets in the house as it is a noisy and can be very unsettling. So we decanted them for the process as it is noisy and very busy. They made it as painless as possible. The system is so worth it. So just plan for installation and it'll be fine. The office/administration side of the process is made all the easier with the support of Clare (smart group). The loan process has been hardest part of this process but Clare had it in the bag and guided you through the maelstrom. A great team and we thank them all for there hard work!

Very quick install, reliable dates. All installation work, such as pipework, was done very exact and nicely. Installers were friendly, approachable and very good at answering questions about the system. They were also very good about accommodating requests and working around our schedule. Couple of mishaps during the installation were dealt with very professionally and were solved quickly. The information provided about the installed underfloor heating system could have been communicated clearer prior to the install. Other than that, a positive experience all around..

Our air source heat pump installation was completed four days ago and has been running very well so far. Each member of the team from Smart Group has been very constructive throughout the process. They have helped me with the grant system (and still are!). They have been friendly, knowledgeable and skillfull at each stage of the operation. They were willing to adapt the original design to my requirements and to adjust details during the installation. The installation started exactly as scheduled and the team worked hard for three days - as predicted. They went out of their way to achieve tidy solutions to the challenges, to avoid lifting tiled flooring and to get the new electrical consumer unit into our existing meter cupboard. Very satisfactory, looking forward to a cosy winter with a zero-fossil-fuel setup (that's with renewable electricity from Good Energy).

They have always been available and driven me through the whole process. They offered my multiple choices, so I could decide and they have been detailed in describing all of the options. It was always clear what was the next step during the process. I've been informed about any issue in advance, like unavailability of battery, so I had a chance to decide what to do. They offered me a better options for the same price. The installation was good, the battery placed very close to the fuse. On the day of installation a wasp nest was found on the roof, so they had to install the panel in a slightly different way from the original proposal. They came back to complete after the nest removal, but the panels stayed the same.

I recommend them as they did a great job making everything very smooth.

We used Smart because they were able to competitively offer to build our new house and install the renewables too. Not many companies can offer this combined service. They had originally been recommended by our neighbours who had ASHP& solar installed in their homes.

Smart installed an Ecodan ASHP, underfloor heating, solar panels, Pylontech battery storage and Zappy EV charging point. Sean and his team were professional and knowledgable to deal with. Workmanship overall was high quality. On the very few occasions it was below par it was corrected. Coordination between the house construction and the installation of the renewables was really well done. Clare in the office advised on the renewables and helped us with the paperwork for the application for the EST loan and the drawing the funds.

We are very pleased with the finished work, it looks great and we look forward to moving into our new energy efficient eco house. We would highly recommend Smart to other people.

What can you get done in about 4 hrs? You could get most of the way to Manchester or Liverpool (possibly driving an EV). Bake some warm bread. Watch Gone with the Wind and still have a few minutes to spare.

Or, if you've got SMART group installing a 3.4kWp solar PV system, you could watch the whole process from start to finish even if the cable run from the attic is a bit tricky.

Needless to say, I did not expect the installation to be as lightning fast as it was. Top marks to the team for making the process as painless as possible. After turning up at 8:00am (sharp), we were generating power before 11am and finishing off by mid-day. A fabulous job by the installation team which nicely backs up the great back office staff. Fantastic work.

We are absolutely delighted with the ASHP fitted by smart group, it's totally transformed our home from a freezing cold hovel, to a cosy wee home. I was nervous as I'd never seen, or heard an ASHP, or been in a house heated by one, but it has really warmed out house up. One thing I had been very worried about was the noise, as we live in a very quiet wee village, however, it really is very quiet, ambient environmental noise (like the occasional car, wind, etc) drowns it out what little noise there is - it's really nothing to worry about.

The install team really couldn't have been more helpful. I'd 10/10 recommend Smart Group and specifically the folks who were in our house carrying out the work, they were so quick, and so accommodating of us - they definitely left our house tidier than they found it. I honestly can't find fault with any part of the process from quotation to hand over.
